We have begun to get settled into our new home. We now have our bed and no longer are sleeping on an air mattress. We purchased a mattress for Isaiah and now have his bed put together as of this week. Jacob is still on an air mattress and Caleb sleeps on a mattress that's on the floor, but we are making progress.
The second week of October was a very memorable one.
- On Tuesday, Oct. 14 Jacob hurt his knee in what turned out to be his last jr. high football game.
- On the same day Dustin received a call to officiate the funeral for the Channel 13 helicopter pilot that was tragically killed on Monday when the helicopter crashed killing both the pilot and photographer.
-On Friday, Oct. 17th the funeral was held. Also, Caleb was in a wreck. His head broke out the back glass of his truck cab, but miraculously he was okay.
-On a positive note - On Sunday, Oct. 19 - My nephew Toby said my name and gave me a kiss for the first time! My father-in-law and brother-in-law also helped move in the rest of our furniture and helped finish building our fence. It was also the first night I got to sleep in my bed!
The following week:
-Thursday, Oct. 23 - Happy 10th Birthday Isaiah! (Double Digits!)
We celebrated on Saturday the 25th. I took Isaiah and his two friends, James and AJ to Incredible Pizza. They had lunch, played video games, and had cake.
-Sunday, Oct. 26 - Happy 17th Birthday Caleb! Family birthday.
I took pictures of Isaiah's and Caleb's birthdays, but the card that I saved them to quit working before I got them stored on my computer. :(
-Tuesday, Oct. 28 - Happy Birthday Daddy a.k.a. Poppy!
The first week of November:
Jr. High Basketball tryouts for Jacob
High School Basketball tryouts of Caleb
-Monday, Nov. 3 - A day of fasting for the National Election
-Tuesday, Nov. 4 - National Presidential Election (Barak Obama vs. John McCain) and my classroom observation.
Second week of November:
-Tuesday, Nov. 11 - A terrible storm came through and all three of our dogs escaped. Thankfully two were taken in by people who called us to come get them. The third we found walking down the street.
-Wednesday, Nov. 12 - Annie got out again. A nice neighbor rescued her and called us. I picked her up that evening.
-Thursday, Nov. 13 - Annie was put on a chain so that she could not escape. Caleb went out Thursday night to bring her into the garage only to find that she was completely paralyzed in the back half of her body.
-Friday, Nov. 14 - Took a half day so that I could take Annie to the vet. Our new furniture was also delivered in the middle of this.
- Annie was put on four medications and given an injection to pull inflammation away from her spinal cord.
- When we returned home from the vet I picked Annie up to carry her into the garage. Somehow I caused her great pain and she bit me twice on my right hand.
- Called the vet - we were told that even if we wanted to put her down we couldn't now for at least 10 days because she bit me. (Something about a state law.)
Week of Nov. 17
-Tuesday, Nov. 18 - Jacob played his first 8th grade basketball game. He fell and hurt his back the last play of the game. We left Jacob's game to travel to Caleb's basketball game at the high school and to have the trainer look at Jacob's back.
-Friday, Nov. 21 - Happy 18th Birthday Angel DJ!
-Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 & 22 - Caleb's basketball tournament and caring for Annie.
Week of Nov. 24
Monday, Nov. 24 - Jacob basketball game and Caleb basketball game
Tuesday, Nov. 25 - Caleb's basketball team played my old high school (Magnolia vs. Klein Oak) WOW! That was UGLY!!! It was the worst called game I have EVER seen. It was also the most vocal and name calling I've ever seen. I thought there was going to be a fight.
Wednesday, Nov. 26 - Isaiah gets a bed. Also on this day my father-in-law was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He had not been feeling well the two previous days, but still went to play a tennis match that morning. He started to collapse and another man caught him. When the ambulance arrived his blood pressure was approximately 78/62. He was admitted into the hospital against his wishes. When we went to visit he seemed to be doing much better. He was quite feisty (the poor nurses!)
